Many of the Spanish lessons and Spanish lessons that I took in order to learn Spanish just confused me much more 

In regards to the utilization of gustar. Gustar means to be pleasing to or even to find satisfying. In many cases, Spanish 

speakers use it the same way that individuals use the verb to like. 

If theres one verb that gave a lot to me of trouble when I first started learning Spanish grammar that verb was gustar.

speakers use it the same way that people use the verb to like. 

Like, in Spanish you dont basically say: 

I prefer your dog. 

In Spanish you would say: 

Me gusta el perro. 

That actually means canine is attractive to me. 

Really, it indicates it pleases me the dog. 

It could sound strange to your English-hearing ears. But you will get 

used to it. Lets check it out. 

I prefer the house. 

Me gusta la casa. 

I dont such as the car. 

No me gusta el carro. 

You want the table. 

Te gusta la mesa. 

He likes the screen/monitor. 

Le gusta manhattan project pantalla. 

We just like the connection. 

Nos gusta el puente. 

They like to sit. 

Les gusta mentir. 

Several changes have, If you prefer to express I love the dogs 

To occur. Can you think what these changes are? 

Needless to say puppy (perro) should now become plural (perros). 

However the article (el) must also become plural (los). 

And the verb should change from third person singular (gusta) to 

third person plural (gustan).

There are a number of verbs in Spanish that follow the exact same structure while the verb gustar.

Interesar (to be interesting to) 

Faltar (to be lacking to) 

Molestar (to bother or to annoy note that this word does not mean to molest) 

Encantar (to like) 

I've also been confused about when to use gustar. Despite what the books say, 

you may use gustar to indicate that you like someone as in being physically attractive to someone. 

As an example, 

T me gustas. 

I love you. 

Me gusta Carmen. 

I prefer Carmen. 

But if you wish to say that you like someone as in I get on well with (name), 

theres a different method to say it. 

Me cae bien Carmen. 

I love Carmen or I go along well with Carmen. Literally, it indicates Carmen comes well on me. 

Number me cae bien Mara. 

I dont like Mara or I dont get on well with Mara. 

No me caes bien t, Or, T no me caes bien. 

I dont get on well with you.
