You can develop a guitar that works good from a simple cigar box. This is not the elaborate real stringed guitar that many people will make, but an easy rubber band guitar.

First you'll cut a hole in underneath of the cigar box. It doesn't need to be very large, only three inches roughly across. A box cutter can be used by you to do this, but be cautious. 

You'll then poke four to five holes on both sides of the hole where you will put the rubber bands. Make certain the holes are poked in a straight line. 

A line can be traced by you with a leader and a pen if you want to be sure that the rubber bands will be just straight. You want to get five rubber bands, and so they really are one line in the place of a group cut them.
