Though previous studies showed that external Retin-A was a bit helpful in improving wound healing in patients with diabetes and some results were discussed by different scientifics, a group of experts tried to know if tretinoin actually helped or never to these patients. A compound of vitamin A called topical Retin-A tretinoin, used mainly to treat acne dilemmas, enhances the healing of foot ulcers in patients with diabetes also known, according to a report of the Archives of Dermatology. Though previous studies indicated that external Retin-A was somewhat helpful in enhancing wound healing in patients with diabetes and some effects were reviewed by different scientifics, several researchers tried to know if tretinoin really helped or to not these patients. The investigation was completed with 24 volunteers who'd diabetic foot ulcers but who showed no proof infection or circulation problems within their extremities. Some patients were assigned to four weeks of daily treatment with topical 0.05 per cent tretinoin solution meanwhile the control group was assigned to a with a saline solution. Every 14 days both groups were assessed. The 22 volunteers who completed the analysis were suffering from an overall total of 24 foot ulcers. A complete healing was achieved by 18 per cent of patients in the control group ( 2 of the 11 ulcers ) and 46 per cent of patients in the treated group ( 6 of the 13 ulcers ) at the end of 16 weeks. There though some patients experienced moderate pain at the ulcer site, was no statistical significance of adverse events. But, this situation didn't be seemingly a challenge generally, as they described. A conclusion for the researchers was that they expect that diabetic foot clinics find out about this and use Retin-A when other therapies that they use do not work.
