The solution could be the built environment, also known as what's built where. This really is composed of the way in which that structures interact with other structures and people. When you walk around a location - a neighbor hood, a or a park - what makes you want to remain or escape these as rapidly as possible? The answer may be the built environment, also called what is built where. This really is composed of just how that structures interact with other structures and people. It's an effect on what the location is used and by whom. On a local level, take a peek at two city developments: Centro Ybor and BayWalk, (both of which I frequent, and both of which I love). At Centro Ybor, one gets from the parking garage to the middle by walking past several derelict houses and groing through train tracks. At BayWalk, one walks out of the garage and nine times out of ten learns live music from a solitary musician, trumpet case open and willing to get your pocket change. You go via a path lined with public art and seats. It's generally questionable. BayWalk stands before you as an attraction to obtain you there. Downtown Clearwater is facing a major shift in its built environment. Although developers who've come to downtown Clearwater have respected the road grid, the block lengths and the range of Cleveland Street, how successful they're in developing an urban area that will invite people to remain is still to be seen. A new streetscape, the development of Water's Edge, Station Square and Clearwater Centre, the recovery of the Telephone Exchange Building (formerly the property of a plasma target Cleveland and Garden) and the completion of projects by the Church of Scientology can all subscribe to the downtown experience. The idea that all of these will create a host that makes social activities happen is an exciting one, one that will rely on the private and public sector working together to make it happen.
