There are about 2,600 different species of palm trees, the majority of which are native to tropical or subtropical areas. Some well-known trees that fit in with this group include coconut trees, rattan trees, and date palm trees.

Uses of palm trees 

Palm trees have many uses. Palm tree sap may also be fermented so that you can produce palm wine, or palm toddy. To create palm wine from the sap of palm trees, the sap is first collected by cutting between the tree kernels. A jar is positioned below the cut to gather the sap, a process that requires one or two days. The sap begins fermenting instantly and produces a within two hours. If the palm sap is allowed to sit a long time, however, it becomes vinegar. 

Heart of palm can also be produced from many species of palm trees. Heart of palm is also called swamp cabbage, palm heart, or palmito. Heart of palm is really a vegetable collected from palm trees. Because the vegetable is extracted from the inner core of the palm trees, but, it kills the tree when it's prepared. Consequently, it is very expensive and salads by which it is added tend to be called uniform salad. 

In addition, oil palms belonging to the genus Elaeis are accustomed to produce palm oil. This kind of vegetable oil is received from the palm trees good fresh fruit. The form of palm oil is removed from the pulp of the fruit. This is exactly what is normally known as palm oil or edible oil. This gas is usually red in color and contains high quantities of carotenoids. It's frequently utilized in margarine or in cooking oil.

Other palm trees are indigenous to warmer climates in the Usa, such as California, Florida, and southern California the place where a tropical climate is common. Other states with Mediterranean climates, like the Gulf coast states of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and southern Georgia also are home to ancient palm trees. Some desert states, such as Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah are also home to some species of palm trees. 

Additionally, the Atlantic coast of South Carolina contains numerous palm trees, making the handle to the state of Palmetto State. 

Palm trees have also been known to increase as far north as Arkansas and Maryland in the United States, as well as across the Pacific Coast to Washington and Oregon. Some species of palm trees are also successfully transplanted to states as New Jersey as far north.
