In the last few years, a number of wonderful war films have hit the theaters. Although there are many war movies that did a great job of representing the struggle and the reality of the situation at hand, there are five that position at the top of the record.

Platoon

Led by Oliver Stone and Introduced in 1986, Platoon is still regarded by many to be the best war movie ever made. Glancing Charlie Sheen and the then-little-known actor Johnny Depp, Platoon reached a level of realism that lots of could not grasp unless they'd already been in the military or experienced the Vietnam War the movie depicted.

Apocalypse Today

Also taking place through the Vietnam War, Apocalypse Now gifts a unique and impressive history with quickly crafted figures. Released in 1979 and led by Francis Ford Coppolla, the film isn't merely a good war story but can also be considered by many to symbolize the dark side of the human psyche. Featuring Martin Sheen, Harrison Ford, Marlon Brando, and Robert Duvall, the film certainly enjoys a cast that's to be admired.

Saving Private Ryan

Taking place during WWII, a unique story is presented by Saving Private Ryan during one of many countrys most trying times. The special effects and graphic ealism of the movie are truly wonderful. In addition, it offers an excellent cast of actors, including Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, and even Vin Diesel. Directed by Steven Spielberg, critical acclaim was achieved by the film by receiving Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Director. It was also selected for six other Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

We Were Soldiers

Centered on a novel compiled by a Lieutenant General and a reporter that were at the Battle of Ia Drang in Vietnam, We Were Soldiers takes a personal look into the lives of actual soldiers and events that happened at enough time. Focused by Randall Wallace and starring Mel Gibson, it's one of only some war films to depict the actions, feelings, and ideas of soldiers on both sides of the war.

Glory

Wonder, which happens throughout the American Civil War, stars Denzel Washington, Matthew Broderick, and Morgan Freeman.
