A Proxy is really a software program that exists in-between a client computer and a server. All communication between the host and the customer are sent through the proxy. The proxy pc software can reside either on a separate computer, sandwiched between the machine and the client, or exist in the client computer it self. The proxy acts just like a filter that sifts all conversation that occurs between the machine and the customer.

Proxies are widely used in the organization setting to manage the internal computer networks interaction with the exterior world. The whole information flow is constricted through the proxy for policy and security implementation functions. Any data that violates company policy or poses a threat to the interior systems security is instantly filtered. Proxies will also be utilized in academic institutions and public facilities like libraries for the same purpose.

Proxies can be utilized for a wide selection of purposes. Predicated on their functions, they are called by different names. a Content Filtering Proxy a proxy that is useful for selection and monitoring material, as explained earlier, is known. On a Gateway another hand, a proxy that transmits all interaction without altering the contents of the traffic is known.

A Caching proxy is one that keeps a cache of frequently requested data. It is ostensibly used to cut back bandwidth consumption and to speedup the network. The proxy typically passes that request to the server and relays the response from the server back again to the client, each time a client requests a bit of information. But the proxy keeps a of that information in its cache and directly sends that information to the consumer rather than sending a request to the host, if the same piece of information is wanted repeatedly. This boosts reaction time and also reduces the bandwidth dependence on the complete system. proxy
