As a kid I could remember going right through the tube that connects East Boston with Boston holding my breath. Absurd behavior? Sure, however in my mind I was preparing for the time once the canal would go out of air.
A pal explained that as a young child he taught himself to publish together with his left hand even though he was right handed. His explanation was that he wished to make sure he could produce even if some thing happened to his right hand.

As an account executive at AT&T certainly one of my tasks was to make sure my clients had disaster recovery plans. Their telephone is wanted by everyone to work no real matter what happens. And yet even so it wasnt some thing my customers wanted to handle. Many thought the likelihood too remote. The others had way too many other tasks on the table which they said took priority.

As I think about this however I am uncomfortable about my own personal planning. What do I actually do in the case of a problem? I can feel my own, personal resistance in even thinking about it!
Almost a year before my mastermind group was referring to backing up their computer records. One member of the group actually took his right back up disc to some other area to make sure that when a fire or flood struck his office he'd still have his records. I really was impressed by that and started initially to think about it for myself. The possibility seemed remote then but certainly now I really do see the point.
