Yes – Sulfates are Bad For Your Hair
Sulfates are heavy duty detergents that are used i soaps, conditioners and shampoo products. They are inexpensive and very thorough at cleaning. Because of this, a lot of companies who sell shampoo and conditioner use sulfates in their products. Chances are you are using sulfate based shampoo, conditioner and soap and the sulfate is just too harsh to be used on human skin and hair on a regular basis.
What Shampoo Can I Use Then?
The kind of shampoo you choose will not matter much as long as it is sulfate free. Rinse your hair with cold water and shampoo once a week and make sure to use a conditioner afterwards to strengthen and re-moisturize the hair.
ChazI initially had purchased the very popular hair product Wen by Chaz Dean. I figured if my hair could look 1/2 as nice as Chaz’s hair then it would be worth the investment. I caught his thirty minute infomercial playing at the gym and jotted down his 800 number.
All in all I found Wen a bit too difficult to follow but I did notice some improvements in my hair texture and strength. I thought this was initially due to the ingredients in Wen but upon closer inspection I realized that Wen simply works because it is a sulfate free shampoo.
I’ve since switched to using “Grow” (which comes with Mira Hair Oil) along with two inexpensive shampoos from Loreal. These are the two most inexpensive sulfate free shampoos I have come across and everyone I have bought them for has had an incredibly positive experience with it.
It goes without saying that you need to switch to cooler water for washing your hair. Hot water can do so much damage to your hair. Even being in a hot shower for too long without really washing your hair will make it more difficult to manage.
