Like many parents, Ive always had trouble getting my adolescent daughter to perform work throughout the house. Im really big on my property and all the outdoor work that accompany it. I actually do a lot of farming, a of shoveling, and even more trimming and packing. For years, it had been extremely hard to get my boy to help with any of this, and I finally stopped asking for any help at all.

A couple of years ago, the family up and moved to Colorado. And perhaps not just any section of Colorado the Rocky Mountains. We found a nice house with a fantastic lawn in a small group called Evergreen, about 25 miles west of Denver in the foothills of the Rockies. To our surprise, the home came with only a little bonus: A big wooden shed on the property containing a lot of accessories and a classic ATV to complement with it.

After arriving in late November, we found ourselves settled right in time for that winters first big snowstorm. And boy, did it ever drop. After over five whole feet of snow and three days of constant blizzard situations, we found ourselves caught behind 200 yards of snow-packed driveway. The thought of trying to scoop that huge area was overwhelming, until I remembered seeing a snow plow installation for the old ATV within the shed. Hoping this might have the desired effect, I followed out to the shed to see if I can put it together.

I was set up and ready to go, using a couple calls to the manufacturer of the ATV (Kawasaki), and the manufacturer of the snow plow (WARN). Surprisingly, I just made it to the fringe of the garage before my young daughter was running at me with large eyes and a look of curiosity about household chores. Extremely, the kid begged me to shovel the driveway, a task he'd always faked a cold to escape.

In just two hours, the ATV had plowed the entire 200 yards of garage, and my son went in as excited like he had just used some time on his board. For the remaining of the winter season, his eyes lit up each and every time the snow fell, and we never spent a lot more than a few hours snowed in. All through those good hours, my wife and I would simply warm up a pot of hot cocoa and watch the amazing change taking place from the warmth of the house.

When spring came around and it was time to begin on my tree trimming and yard jobs, I discovered a similar curiosity about these outdoor tasks. I would trim the branches, and my daughter would transfer them to the fringe of the home and load them into the ATV plow. He then spent per week right digging up dirt and proportioning aspects of land for my grand garden programs. In a fraction of the time it had taken in past years, I'd a fantastic garden, thanks mainly towards the support of my son and his new favorite toy.

In the past couple of years, I havent shoveled a bit of snow in winter months. For the previous two summers, I havent put somewhat of work into my garden. Yet I still have the most useful looking yard and garden on the block, and my daughter achieved it all by having an old ATV and power plow. And anytime the neighbors come to ask me how I got my son to be so helpful around the yard, I only point at that old ATV and say Get some of those and youll see for yourself. metal gates sydney
