Find Menorca's Hidden Beaches

Menorca has around 200 kilometers of coast, much of it made up of beautiful sandy coves surrounded by rocky headlands. The area has more beaches than Majorca and Ibiza assembled, so it is deservedly popular with those looking for a beach holiday. A lot of the south of the area, as in Son Bou and Cala en Porter, is just a holidaymaker's playground, with long stretches of beach which are popular and crowded in the season, but you can go for Menorcaas more out-of-the-way beaches if youad rather have more privacy worth reading . 

Even in the south, you'll find small beaches such as Cala Binibeca, with a small restaurant, and Els Canutells, a small resort near Cala en Porter. And a drive from San Clemente, brings you to Calas Coves where remarkable cliffs surround two tiny beaches. 

When youave sick and tired of lazing on-the beach, there are many interesting caves to find. Over 100 Bronze Age caves, filled with carvings and paintings, are cut in to the cliff overlooking the sheltered bay. At the eastern end of Son Bou are available the ruins of an early Christian basilica. Finally, the charming cash Mahon, on the east of the area, has wonderful Georgian architecture and second largest natural harbor in the entire world, second only to Pearl Harbour. 

Northwards to escape the crowds 

Whilst the north of Menorca has some busy places, in addition it has a good share of the islandas uncrowded small shores, interesting country walks, and a variety of water sports including sailing.
