Black History sbo128. Learn about it. Be about any of it. The spot was Greensboro, North Carolina. The time was the 'Jim Crow' segregated south. Whites enjoyed the opportunity of eating wherever they pleasured, while negro's/colored were only permitted to consume, drink and rest at-a small handful of 'negro only' locations. This was not simply for your common dark folk, this crap extended to highest government authorities, celebrities and athletes. Can you imagine Jay-Z and Beyonce needing to remain at a flea bag 'negro only' hotel in the lid after doing at the Grammy's? The very best superstars of those days like Diana Ross, Sammy Davis Jr., and Ike and Tina Turner did.But on February 1, 1960 4 dark childhood, all over the ages 17, got feed up with that 'white only' bulljargin and determined enough was enough. Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair Jr., David Richmond and Joseph McNeil, all students from a Carolina A&T combined into the F.W. Woolworth Store, which was such as the Dollar Store of that day. They took chairs at-the 'Whites Only' meal bar and tried to purchase. The restaurant refused to provide them. They slept that afternoon, didn't get offered, but came back 7 days a week. Their protest sparked a wave of opposition and sit-ins throughout the south, enlivening the Civil-rights Movement. It was change that a lot of people may rely on, especially those looking to get a burger.Resistance to injustice is really a right of all Americans. Currently there's an organized resistance called the Tea Party Movement, they are protesting activities of government that they argue with. That's their right. It's also your directly to endure wrong-doings that influence you and your community. Visit city hall. Create your politicians, or better yet grab some friends and go down to-see them. The Greensboro 4 were only 17 years of age and they truly made America a better place, especially for Blacks and Black Youth. Unlike lots of the important figures of the Civil-rights Movement, most of the Greensboro Four remain living. Could we show these friends some love? During Black History Month we would want to deliver the Greensboro Four at the very least 50,000 thank you's. Don't just read about it. Be about it.. Mail a fast thank you to thanksG4@4blackyouth.com
