This question seems easy and innocent to answer. But the facts are that it is no easy question to answer at all, because it must be solved on so many different levels. What is karate really exactly about?
Is it about learning some blocks, kicks and punches? Could it be about memorizing countless forms? Is it about self-defense? Can it be about health and fitness? What about making new friends and interacting? And think about all of those buzzwords such as self-discipline, self-confidence, self-control, self-esteem and all of those other self prefixes that appeal to our already aggrandized egos?
Some people have already done our research on this topic to discover what karate is about and many different but complimentary answers have been found by us. Old-fashioned martial arts knowledge tells us that karate is approximately perfecting our identity, being genuine and honest, never stopping, creating powerful nature, trying our most useful at all times, sticking with rigid discipline and etiquette, following a course or the Way, and achieving our potential in life.

Excellence of character doesnt mean that you never create a mistake. Wanting to be honest and truthful does not signify there is a constant catch your self being hypocritical occasionally. Nor does trying your best signify youre never tired.
What's most important from all this can be your self-awareness. Through the theme and practice of karate we must certanly be able to continually polish the stone that holds all of our skills, so that we can clearly see our own reflection in all its beauty and also all of its ugliness.
Steadily through constant work, practice and understanding of ourselves that we create through our practice, we can tip the balance of our lifes size to positive nourishment and self-improvement.
