Where's the love for us Latinas and our brown-skinned hermanas, Vanity Fair?! Earlier this year, the journal published the 2010 New Hollywood cover that stirred up controversy because of the performers chosen to be section of this selection. Albeit accomplished and incredibly beautiful, Vanity Fair chose to highlight pale-skinned, thin, White stars only. Problems with this, everyone? This is the reason I've come up with my own set of Jessica Cediel performers who're in the same way beautiful and talented. They have color and sabor Latino which makes these Cosmopolatinas impressive to watch:Zoe Saldana- delivered to some Dominican father and a Rican mom, while in DR she practiced ballet at one of the most famous dance schools in the country. Saldana came back to New York at age 17, where she began involving herself in teams that helped her land her first on screen part as Eva in-the dance film, Center Stage (2000). In 2007, Time selected Ferrera together of-the leading musicians and performers in their "Time 100: The Most Influential People in the World" issue.Catalina Sandino Moreno- was created in BogotA, Colombia. She migrated to New York in 2004, after she was noticed on her expertise at-the RubAn Di Pietro performing school in BogotA. She was then described a spreading audition for the 2004 movie Maria Saturated in Grace where she beat more than 900 girls for the lead role. Sandino's position in this film made her the second South American and third Hispanic celebrity selected for an Academy Award.Melonie Diaz- was raised in New York City's lower east side by parents of Puerto Rican descent. Her breakthrough roles came as Blanca in Catherine Hardwicke's Lords of Dogtown (2005) and as Laurie in Dito Montiel's Helpful Information to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) which gained her an Unbiased Spirit Awards nomination for Best Supporting Female. She was eventually cast by Jamie Babbit in the lead role of Anna in Itty Bitty Titty Committee (2007) as well as a in Hamlet 2 and Be Kind Rewind in 2008.Karen Olivo- delivered to a Native American and Puerto Rican dad and a Chinese Dominican mother, Karen holds true multicultural Latina. Maybe next year Vanity Fair can choose to then add Latina spice to their address. LaCosmopolatina we are going to function you any time, at if not, don't fear chicas!
