Breaking malicious, false, hard and idle speech

"Abandoning false speech, he abstains from false speech; he speaks truth, adheres to truth, is trustworthy and reliable, one that is no deceiver of the entire world.

Breaking malicious talk, he abstains from malicious speech; he doesn't repeat elsewhere what he has heard in order to divide [those people] from these, nor does he repeat to these people what he's heard else where to divide [these people] fromthose; thus he's one who reunites those who are divided, a supporter of friendships, who appreciate concord, rejoices in concord, pleasures in concord, a of phrases that promote concord.

Leaving harsh speech, he abstains from harsh speech; he speaks such words as are light, attractive to the hearing, and loveable, as go to the center, are courteous, preferred by many and reasonable to many.

Breaking idle gossip, he abstains from idle chatter; he speaks at the right time, speaks what's fact, speaks on what's great, speaks on the Dhamma (Buddha's teachings) and the Discipline (moral instructions ); at the right time he speaks such words

as are worth fair, modest, saving, and beneficial."

Having appropriate speech is just one aspect of the The ten virtuous deeds:

Refraining from the next twenty actions:

1) using life,

2) using what is perhaps not given

3) sexual misconduct,

(which would be the three virtuous actions of body. )

4) lying,

5) slander,

6) harsh speech

7) idle talk,

(which would be the four virtuous actions of speech.)

8) jealousy,

9) ill will

10) holding wrong opinions

(which would be the three virtuous acts of mind.)

It is possible to "upgrade" our capacities through conscientious spiritual exercise along the graduated path to complete Enlightenment (Buddhahood) by increasing our Compassion and Wisdom. But, we should not pressure others to "upgrade" their capabilities. We should instead use skilful way to encourage them to spiritually grow beyond their present volume in good time. Often, others need more than this lifetime alone to "upgrade" their capabilities.
