Its A3 model was launched by german car maker Audi in 1996. It was sold as a middle sized family vehicle and provided many design inventions with Volkswagen models of their time. There are two split ages of the audi a3 in south africa, the type 8L and the type 8P/8PA.The Audi A3 8L was produced from 1996 through 2003, this was Audi's return to smaller automobile creation following the retirement of the Audi 50.
