As parents we have therefore much to be worried about in relation to our youngsters. We want to guard them from most of lifes hazards, however we want to do this without putting unnecessary fear into their lives.

When my young ones were small, we started referring to secrets. What is a good secret and what's a bad secret? That appeared to be a concept my young ones can comprehend, while achieving my purpose of perhaps not scaring them.

My I and young ones spent several hours referring to secrets and that mom and/or daddy should be told secrets. I also assured them that they would NEVER get in trouble for telling mommy or daddy a secret. I can remember once or twice, my kids slipping and showing an excellent solution when they weren't likely to, but I kept my word and they never got in trouble. You see, I have often heard that some one operating unnecessarily will say "if your mommy is told by you, you'll be in trouble."
