Precious Adam:

I have read the first 125 pages of one's book.

You research, "training collar" many times. I have probably overlooked this, but what do you mean by receiver collar? Is it a pinch collar or one that produces a shock? Up to now I've used your strategies with a great deal of success. We use the "get busy" command to really make the dog relieve herself. After three days, it works well. Your dog sits well, too. He still requires a hand signal from time to time. We are currently taking care of the down position. Your book has been an inspiration. An added question: We lately had an invisible barrier fitted. Your dog is 15 weeks old. How soon should we begin to make use of this? He's a pound "English" yellow Lab.

Thanks,

Brian

Dear Brian:

Thanks for the email.

Yes, generally I'm speaing frankly about the crunch collar when I refer to it collar.

In regard to the to sit command: You should first issue the command THEN the modification. Do not wait to see if the dog's going to get it done or he'll study to WAIT to see if you're going to correct him. In other words, you get teaching your pet that a slow response to directions is ok. And this is simply not our purpose. Our goal should be to show the dog that he should respond immediately and quickly.

Once he's one hundred thousand trained to respond fast every time... and he constantly beats you to the correction... Then you can certainly end.

In terms of the electric fence... I had probably wait 6 to 7 weeks until he's.

That's all for the present time, people! dogwatch.com
