PSN Is Creating a Clear Stamp on Community Sector Services
Kcom’s strength in PSN roll-outs cited as main factor
London, 2 April 2012: Kcom, the leading managed service communication provider, today announced that it had been selected to build the particular core network infrastructure for the East Midlands Public Solutions Network (PSN).
The East Midlands PSN (emPSN) will deliver significant benefits, alongside capacity and assistance level improvements, through the transformation in the existing embc network. Once established, it will also enable them to exploit economies of scale especially as more local partners join. The emPSN will enhance the reach of high capability broadband networks and solutions, especially in rural parts, as well as raising the availability from suppliers in all of the areas.
As well as being selected to construct the core network, Kcom has been awarded positions within the emPSN Framework Agreement such as provision of Access Solutions and, in partnership with RM, the supply of App Services.

Whilst initially, the priority is to make certain the embc schools transition for the emPSN successfully, the framework is made to cover a much wider pair of Public Sector needs. The network transformation will be timed to coincide using the expiry of the present embc contract on 31 October 2012. With the contract upwards for renewal in Oct the embc organisation took choosing one that there were greater benefits to be had for the local public sector in its entirety from implementing a PSN rather than retendering the school multilevel. After a competitive discussion tender process Kcom had been awarded the contract to supply the core network.
emPSN are keen to ensure the regional PSN can be a marketplace providing [other] customers with the opportunity to be able to competitively procure access providers and applications. As a result Kcom will offer an array of Access Services for schools to provide secure and safe, robust, easy to upgrade services for an array of bandwidths together with RM’s Request Services including email, filtering, web hosting and education portal.
